I hope you have all kept well throughout the past few months.
We really missed being able to open up for the Summer Term after Easter with our normal programme.
It was a delight to empty the tuck shop of all it's goodies and deliver them to your steps. It was lovely to hear back from you about receiving the goodies. Though it also highlighted that someone had moved house and I delivered your sweets to your old house, I do hope you managed to retrieve them! Otherwise, what a lovely surprise for the new house owner. So new contact forms will be issued when we return, just to check that I have all your emergency contact details and so on.
This term we were looking forward to lots of summer fun, Hartland Carnival and Woolsery Young Farmers paying us a visit as a chance to introduce the club to the older ones and provide us with some fun and laughter. Hopefully we can invite them back soon, so we can take part in their 'Cube Challenge', I know you were looking forward to that.
Though our end of season BBQ and invite to Year 6 to join us for the evening has not been able to take place, I think we should have a 'Build a Burger' Competition when we return.
If there are any Year 6s that are going up to secondary school in September 2020 who would like to get in touch about joining our club or just trying us out for the night, then please email woolseryyouthclub@gmail.com
I am pleased to announce that two young people from the club have agreed to become Woolsery Youth Ambassadors. It is something I would like to introduce and that gives them opportunities to not only still stay in touch but to be able develop their own leadership skills and have the
I am watching the national guidance form The National Youth Guidance page for up to date information for youth settings, last week it was on Red and is now on Amber (14.7.2020).
This now means in a nutshell....
Online and digital youth services
Detached local youth activities, including pre-planned outdoor activities
1-2-1 indoor sessions with young people
Indoor group sessions
We have to remember we a small club and do not have the capacity like the bigger clubs to offer the above services in small groups for the time being.
I have joined up with two local networks, Space and Voyc that support youth clubs in Devon with all sorts of things such as funding, training and lots of other useful information that helps in the background running of our club to ensure it is safe and fun.
I ask that you keep an eye on the Woolsery Youth Club and Instagram page for any updates about future sessions.
I look forward to welcoming you back to WYC group as soon as we can do safely.
Keep well and keep safe.
Louise
